“There are moments, when I was learning how to hear God’s voice clearly, where I really struggled with doubts and confusion. I would often ask myself, “Was that really God speaking or me thinking He did?” Especially after I made decisions I thought were guided by Him, but realized they couldn’t have been, given how badly things turned out. I was lost, scared, and many times couldn’t trust myself during prayer because what if I heard God’s voice wrong and made terrible decisions again?

But God saw my confusion; He gave me peace of mind and a reminder of the verse “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7). That’s when I realized God provides everything, including the capacity to hear His voice. He is in control, not us. So it’s not about whether we make mistakes and hear Him wrong; it’s about us continuously seeking Him to get better at it through His guidance, even when we fail to hear Him. And after doing so myself, God not only taught me how to hear Him clearly, but repeatedly and confidently. Now I have complete peace of mind when it comes to seeking God for answers, knowing He will answer and trusting that I can clearly discern His voice from mine.
